Bay of Bengal & Ocean

The Bay of Bengal is part of the Indian ocean near Bangladesh. The BoB covers a large area (Bangladesh’s extended economic zone covers 118,813 sq. km. area) used for fishing and other economic activities by the 8.89 million coastal population. The country is expanding its economic activities in the sea through blue economy initiatives. The ocean is facing increasing SST and gradual acidification. This primarily damages the sea ecosystem and fish species and will affect the coastal people.
